First Impressions ♦ VISUAL (FEATURES / FASHION)
Yato appears as a young man in his early 20's with Japanese features, standing approximately 5'8" (1.76m) and weighing around 120lbs (53kg). His hair is dark, sometimes appearing black, but mostly shows as purple in some animation sequences certain lighting. Depending on his mood, he either wears it loose or gathered and tied.

A trait shared with other gods in the series, his eyes are his most striking features, being electrically bright blue to the point of seeming unnatural. His pupils sometimes reflect his emotional state: when angry in particular, they often become slitted, reminiscent of cat's eyes.

He almost exclusively wears a navy tracksuit with a small golden crown on the right side, a plain white t-shirt underneath, brown leather boots, and a tattered, faded blue scarf tied around his neck. [fullsize image] ♦ DEMEANOR
90% of the time, Yato is an enormous dork, and this is most likely how people are going to encounter him. He's loud and joking, doesn't have a great concept of personal space, prone to ridiculous outbursts and getting drawn into trading insults, shameless about advertising himself as a god and/or his services as such, and is generally That Immature Guy who's about as un-godly like as you can get. The remaining time however, it's obvious that he has Seen (and Done) Some Shit, and he definitely shows as older than he appears. In these times, he can be serious and cold depending on the situation. ♦ SOUND & SCENT
Yato's Japanese VA is Hiroshi Kamiya, who also voices about a thousand other anime males, like Izaya Orihara from Durarara!! and Levi from Attack on Titan. (Youtube clip - subbed)

Scent actually plays a notable role in Noragami, as gods apparently all give off really lovely smells, with each one being distinct enough that Hiyori (as a half-Phantom) is able to track them by it. The scents aren't actually described, just as "very nice", so it's possible that it changes depending on the person. ♦ MENTAL INFORMATION
As a god, Yato isn't susceptible to most mental incursions by telepaths etc. Those who try to read his mind or influence it would likely be met with a wall of static. (That said, I am always open to plotting - hmu if you wanna explore something in this vein.) ♦ MAGICAL INFORMATION
His typically un-godlike attitude aside, Yato is actually a divine being, and will ping as such to anyone with senses to detect such things. More specifically, although he's formally a "War God", he's also a "God of Calamity" and so will magically register with a lot of death, murder, blood, chaos, and some more murder. Whoops.

Powers & Abilities ♦ GODLY CONSTITUTION
Yato possesses enhanced attributes beyond human capability, particularly speed, agility and stamina. He can't pick up a car and throw it, for example, or outrun one. He does display a seriously skewed relation with gravity though, ie; shown as able to leap all over the city by rooftop or to the top of a building in only a few jumps. He does injure quite seriously, shown to bleed profusely and require time for healing, but (in his own words) it takes a Regalia or a Phantom to make it stick.

Regarding physical needs, he still eats and requires sleep like anyone, and gets drunk although it takes a serious amount of liquor to get him there. Being a War God, he also excels at combat in general, taking on Phantoms and even other gods (he's shown as equal in strength to Bishamon, who is reputed to be the strongest of the War Gods). ♦ DIVINE PERCEPTION / POSSESSION
As a god, Yato has the ability to sense magical/spiritual creatures and effects - basically anything that registers as "not human". Particularly in the case of other spiritual beings, he may also (at the other player's discretion) sense their general alignment. This does not give him insight into their abilities etc, merely their overall delineation (such as "War God, God of Fortune", or the equivalents across other series.)

As explained by Tenjin to Yukine, gods can possess humans temporarily, controlling their bodies while their soul is suppressed. It is also stated that doing so without an aim or intent is looked upon as a serious misuse of a gods' power, and can trigger a heavenly council if seen as serious enough to impact mortal lives. ♦ TELEPORTATION
In the series, Yato and other gods are shown to be able to teleport instantly from one location to another. Yato typically uses this to get to his odd jobs quickly (usually while he's still on the phone with them), but has also been shown to use it to when called in other ways. The character Bishamon also is shown to arrive in the same manner to Kofuku's shop. Additionally, once gods have on official shrine recognized by Heaven (which Yato does at his canon point), they can teleport to and from Takamagahara at will (whereas previously Yato had to ask Tenjin to send him there). ♦ BLIGHT
He shares the same weakness to blight/corruption whether from Phantoms or from corrupted souls as other gods in the series. These impurities can only be cleansed with pure water, either from a shrine or from a pure-running stream. Left untreated, they will continue to spread causing severe pain and, if left to progress, death. (wiki) ♦ SWORD TECHNIQUES
In addition to being an expert swordsman, like all gods, Yato has the ability to use his weapon to perform additional effects on both mortals and other supernatural beings. In canon he's shown to use two prominently:

REND (斬 zan; "decapitation") - A killing blow used on a Phantom to destroy it, an ability possessed by all gods (although the actual technique of each differs). In game, since there aren't Phantoms, this will become the ability to clear negative thoughts and lies from people, without harming them. (wiki)

SEVERANCE (絶 zetsu; sunder; lit. "sever") - This ability cuts ties between two people (whether humans, shinki, gods, it doesn't seem to matter). This usually takes the form of them losing memories of the other person in some way. Several instances in the series infer that this ability is unique to Yato, as other gods have requested it from him.
